Wash floors, corridors, stairs and stairwells, walls, partitions, windows from the inside or outside of buildings using mops, brushes, detergents, buffers, floor scrubbers and other cleaning implements. Collects, transports and disposes of medical waste or spoiled linens in accordance with cleaning procedures. Strips and waxes floors: vacuums and shampoos carpets; and dusts assigned areas using manual or mechanical equipment. Cleans and scrubs all areas of lavatories and locker rooms, such as sinks, urinals, toilets, showers, shower walls and drain, tile floors, and locker room common areas. Replaces light bulbs, dusts or washes light fixtures and high places such as ceilings using ladders and scaffolds. Cleans and polishes furniture, metal fixtures and equipment. Removes hazardous articles on floors, furniture and equipment and places them in designated receptacles or in appropriate places. Move furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning activities or sets up meetings or special events. Changes curtains and drapes and hangs pictures and other decorative objects. Empties trash, recyclables and waste in accordance with cleaning schedule. Assembles cleaning cart to conform to assigned cleaning duties and mixes and properly dilutes cleaning solutions in accordance with manufacturer directions. Wears appropriate protective clothing and other specialized protective equipment as required by the cleaning assignments. Checks supplies and equipment functioning and notifies supervisor of low supply levels, equipment malfunction and building maintenance issues noted during cleaning.

Responsible for the administration of a housekeeping program and the supervision and training
of staff in the cleaning and care of a facility. In charge of hiring employees, planning work schedules,
preparing department’s budget, writing reports, maintaining inventories and ordering supplies.
Work with the clinical team and maintain a building inspection program to ensure that infection control
practices are maintained, and cleaning activities are being carried out at a satisfactory level throughout the facility.
Must be reachable for appointment from the current Civil Service eligibility list; or have permanent status
as a Head Housekeeper, Grade 15, and be eligible for a lateral transfer. $50547 to $61229 per year.
Perform a variety of routine manual tasks requiring light, medium and heavy physical effort in cleaning and caring for an assigned area including restrooms, and stripping and polishing floors. May occasionally sweep/shovel sidewalks. Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor, and able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. $28440 to $28440 per year.

Responsible for serving food and for keeping the areas where food is served, both clean and in good order. Help prepare trays for serving, transport food carts to serving areas, and return used dishes and equipment to pot and dishwashing areas. Clean serving or tray line areas and make sure that equipment is ready for the next meal. Participate in sanitation activities in dining areas and in other food service and preparation areas, order and store supplies and generally help to ensure that individuals in the care of the facility are fed properly. Must be able to read, write, and speak English and to follow both written and spoken instructions. Install and repair ceiling and floor tiles. Perform general millwork, build cabinets, furniture and other wooden items. Maintain shop equipment and portable tools used in the trade.
