The Russian Arts Theater opens its 2023 theater season with two short pieces by Alexander Pushkin: Mozart & Salieri and Scene From Faust.
Mozart and Salieri is a short play based on the popular conspiracy that W.A. Mozart, arguably the greatest composer of the 18th century, was poisoned by Antonio Salieri, his jealous contemporary. In Scene From Faust, Faust suffers not so much from a thirst for knowledge and experience as from spleen, which Mephistopheles tries in vain to alleviate. Soon, Faust's boredom turns into a thirst for bloody entertainment.
